titleOfInvention Trisilylated amine compound with silacyclobutane ring
abstract 1328514 Silacyclobutane derivatives and polymers thereof DOW CORNING Ltd 8 Jan 1971 [9 Jan 1970] 1210/70 Headings C3S and C3T The invention comprises silacyclobutane derivatives of the formula wherein n is 1 or 2 and R denotes hydrogen or a C 1-5 alkyl radical, and polymers thereof comprising units of the formula wherein Z represents the monovalent group -SiH(CH 3 ) 2 or the divalent group The monomers are prepared by reacting a 1- chloro-1-methyl-1-silacyclobutane of the formula with 1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisilazane, preferably in the presence of a tertiary amine. Corresponding polymers are prepared by heating the monomers to between 150‹ and 300‹ C. Examples describe the preparation of 1-(1-methyl- 1 - silacyclobutyl) bis - (dimethylsilyl)amine, bis - [1 - (1 - methyl - 1 - silacyclobutyl)]dimethylsilylamine and polymers thereof. Uses.-The monomers may be used as chemical intermediates, particularly for further reaction with ethylenically unsaturated compounds. The polymers may be used as laminating resins. 1 - Chloro - 1 - methyl - 1 - silacyclobutane is prepared by reacting gamma-chloropropylmethyldichlorosilane with magnesium in the presence of an ether.
