1326452 Unsaturated esters IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 Dec 1971 [12 Jan 1971] 1480/71 Heading C2C Unsaturated esters containing one or more groups of the formula where n is a whole number are prepared by reacting an acyclic conjugated diolefin of the basic structure with a carboxylic acid in the presence of a platinum or iridium compound and carbon monoxide and/or a carbonyl, the residual valencies in the above formulĀµ being satisfied by inorganic substituents, organic substituents or hydrogen. The preferred carboxylic acids are benzoic, toluic, acetic, adipic, phthalic and formic acids, the preferred platinum and iridium compounds are chlorides, acetates, acetylacetonates and triphenylphosphines and the carbonyl is preferably a Group VIII metal carbonyl. |
