titleOfInvention Packaging of elastomers
abstract 1323617 Non-stick coatings HECHT HEYWORTH & ALCAN Ltd 4 Nov 1971 [5 Nov 1970 30 July 1971] 51392/71 Heading B2E A mass of tacky natural or synthetic elastomer is provided with a continuous adherent coating of a non-tacky, compatible, co-vulcanisable thermoplastic polymer. Preferred thermoplastic polymers are block copolymers of styrene and butadiene. The coating may be applied by application of a solution of the polymer in an appropriate solvent, which is then evaporated. A non-stick powder which should be chemically compatible with elastomer may be further applied over the surface of the elastomer. Suitable powders are derivatives of fatty acids, such as their salts, esters and ester-salts, particularly metal salts of fatty acids, preferably zinc stearate or zinc laurate. The non-stick powder preferably does not exceed 1% of the weight of the elastomer, particularly advantageously less than 0.2%.
