abstract | 1322655 Slide culture apparatus e.g. for tissue cells MILES LABORATORIES Inc 6 Sept 1971 [18 Nov 1970] 41478/71 Heading C6F [Also in Division G2] Tissue cells are cultured in the compartmented receptacle 14, Figs. 1 and 3, temporarily mounted on and adhered to a microscope slide base 10, tissue culture medium is then removed from each compartment e.g. by aspiration, the receptacle is separated from the slide and the masses of tissue cells attached to the base are stained for microscopic examination, see Fig.4. The surface portion 19 of the slide may bear identifying markings. The receptacle and associated flange 18 are held to the slide by injecting adhesive gasket material through a central vertical passage 44, Fig.1, down into a series of inter-connected grooves, see 48 on Fig.3. Slots 45 and 47 (not shown) allow the air in the grooves to escape as the gasket material enters. In a modified construction, Fig. 5 (not shown) the compartments may have sloping side walls. Circular compartments may be employed. Slide base: glass, sintered alumina or organoplastics. Receptacle and cover: polypropylene, polystyrene, polymethacrylate, polymethylmethacrylate and celluloid. Gasket material: organo-polysiloxane elastomer and microcrystalline waxes. |
