abstract | 1321528 Methin dyes CIBA-GEIGY AG 22 Nov 1971 [18 Dec 1970] 54183/71 Heading C4P Methin dyes of formula (in which R is alkyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl; c is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, CF 3 , alkylsulphonyl, aminosulphonyl or acylamino; d is H, halogen, alkoxy, alkyl, alkylmercapto, aryloxy, arylmercapto, or cyclohexyl; Y is anion). The dyes are used for dyeing textile materials and are prepared by a conventional condensation reaction from heterocyclic methyl or methylene compound and a p-aminobenzaldehyde in which the amino or aldehyde group is protected or from a p-nitrobenzaldehyde, the nitro group then being reduced. The examples describe dyes in which R is methyl or benzyl; c and d are both H or methoxy; R 1 completes an indoline nucleus substituted by Cl, NO 2 , CO 2 C 2 H 5 , CO 2 CH 3 , methoxy, ethoxy, Br, F, SO 2 CH 3 , C 2 H 5 and/or CH 3 . |
