titleOfInvention | Adamantane derivatives |
abstract | 1320952 Adamantane derivatives E R SQUIBB & SONS Inc 24 June 1970 [26 June 1969 27 Feb 1970] 55184/72 Divided out of 1320951 Heading C2C Novel adamantane derivatives of the general formula wherein each of R and R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrogen atom or a C 1-6 alkyl or C 1-6 alkoxy group, n is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, each of R<SP>11</SP> and R<SP>111</SP> is a hydrogen atom or a C 1-8 alkyl, optionally substituted phenyl-alkyl (of up to 10 carbon atoms) or phenyl group or an alicyclic group of up to 8 carbon atoms, X is Cl or Br and s is 0, 1 or 2, are prepared by reaction of an amine of the general formula with an acyl halide of the general formula XCOCR<SP>11</SP>R<SP>111</SP>(CH 2 ) s CH 2 X. 1 - Adamantylmethylamine is prepared by treatment of 1-adamantane-carboxylic acid with thionyl chloride, reaction of the resulting acid chloride with ammonia and reduction of the resulting acid amide with lithium aluminium hydride. 2-(1-Adamantyl)-ethylamine is prepared analogously from 1-adamantyl-acetic acid, which is prepared by treatment of 1-bromoadamantane with 1,1-dichloroethylene in the presence of boron trifluoride. |
