abstract | 1319989 Glycosyl isothiouronium halides UPJOHN CO 29 Oct 1970 [3 Nov 1969 (3)] 40742/72 Divided out of 1319988 Heading C2C In a process for converting a trans-glycosyl halide to an isothiouronium halide especially 7-O-methyl-lincosamine isothiouronium bromides by reaction with thiourea, substantial conversion to the cis-isomer is obtained using a tertiary amide dipolar aprotic solvent especially hexamethylphosphoric triamide or DMF. The product may be hydrolysed to the cis-thiose and concomitantly alkylated to form an alkyl cis- 1-thioglycoside optionally in the presence of an antioxidant to prevent oxidation to the bisulphide. |
