titleOfInvention Process for producing highly crimped viscose rayon
abstract 1318122 Crimped viscose rayon fibres NITTO BOSEKI CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [21 July 1970 9 Sept 1970] 23508/71 Heading B5B A process for preparing highly crimped fibres from viscose comprises adding to a viscose solution obtained by xanthating with 24%- 32% (w/w based on cellulose) carbon disulphide (a) 1-10% (weight of metal based on weight cellulose) of at least one water- or NaOH- soluble Zn, Cd, Pb or ferrous compounds; (b) 0À5-10% w/w based on cellulose of a polymer or copolymer of an alkylene oxide; and (c) 1-10% w/w based on cellulose of an alkylene oxide derivative of a diamine or polyamine, ripening the resulting viscose to a γ-value of 37-49 and a "conditional" Hottenroth number (as defined in the Specification) of 10-20, spinning the ripened viscose into an H 2 SO 4 - sulphate bath containing 1-10% by weight of zinc sulphate and stretching and regenerating the resultant fibres in a second bath containing 0À1-12% H 2 SO 4 , 0-15% Na 2 SO 4 and 0-10% ZnSO 4 at a temperature of 70‹-100‹ C. Preferably the group (a) modifier is added to the viscose in an amount at 2-6% by weight and is selected from sodium zincate, zinc sulphate, lead oxide, cadmium acetate, ferrous sulphate, zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide, zinc acetate, cadmium sulphate, cadmium chloride, cadmium nitrate, ferrous chloride and lead nitrate; the group (b) modifier is added in an amount of 1-7% by weight and is selected from polyethylene glycols, polypropylene glycols and copolymers of ethylene and propylene oxides; the group (c) modifier is added in an amount of 2-5% by weight and is selected from compounds prepared by reacting ethylene and/or propylene oxides with ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, pentaethylenehexamine, propylenediamine or p-xylenediamine.
