titleOfInvention Aluminium derivatives of diamines process for preparing the same catalytic systems incorporating the same and the polymerization of unsaturated compounds employing such systems as catalyst
abstract 1316232 Aluminium derivatives of diamines SNAM PROGETTI SpA 19 April 1971 [11 March 1970] 22778/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the formula where X<SP>1</SP> and X<SP>2</SP> are hydrogen, halogen or -NHR<SP>4</SP> where R<SP>4</SP> is hydrocarbon; R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are hydrocarbon radicals or together form a ring with a direct nitrogen-nitrogen bond or with a nitrogen-hydrocarbon-nitrogen-hydrocarbon structure; and R<SP>3</SP> is a saturated hydrocarbon radical, e.g. alkylene, cycloalkylene or arylene, with or without substituents; and their production by reacting R<SP>1</SP>NHR<SP>3</SP>NHR<SP>2</SP> or an acid addition salt thereof, with an aluminium hydride compound containing the AlH 2 group, in an ethereal solvent, to produce compounds as above in which X<SP>1</SP> and X<SP>2</SP> are hydrogen, and if desired introducing halogen or NHR 4 groups. The aluminium hydride reagent may be AlH 3 , an alkali metal aluminium hydride, AlH 2 X where X is halogen, H 2 AlNR 2 where NR 2 is an amine radical or a heterocyclic radical, or an ether complex of the first three of these. The compounds of the invention are of utility as catalyst components for the polymerization of olefinic compounds (see Division C3).
