titleOfInvention Solid iodophor cleansing composition
abstract 1315461 Germicidal cleansing composition MUNDIPHARMA AG 10 May 1971 13934/ 71 Heading ASE [Also in Division C5] A germicidal cleansing composition comprises (a) 30-87 weight% of one or more polyoxyethylene glycols having a molecular weight from 200-6,000, (b) 0.5-25% of one or more primary alkanols of formula ROH where R is a C 10-18 alkyl group, (c) 3-20% of one or more iodophors selected from polyvinyl pyrrolidone iodine, nonylphenoxy poly (ethyleneoxy) ethanol iodine and undecoylium chloride iodine and (d) 10-25% of one or more detergents selected from alkyl acyl esters of sodium isothionate (C 14-18 alkyl), sodium N- cyclohexyl - N - palmitoyltaurate, sodium N - methyl-N-palmitoyltaurate, soduim N-fatty acyl-N-methyltaurate and sodium lauryl sulphate. The primary alkanol may be decyl, dodecyl, lauryl, palmityl, stearyl, myristyl or cetyl alcohol. The detergent may be coconut fatty acid ester of sodium isothionate or sodium N-coconut fatty acyl methyl taurate. The composition may also include an abrasive, e.g. pumice. It may be prepared in the form of bars by melting the polyethylene glycol, and adding in order the alkanol, the iodophor and the detergent. The composition may be warmed or cooled after addition of the alkanol.
