abstract 1315232 Preparing 2,5 - diacylamino - 1,4- benzoquinones CIBA-GEIGY AG 4 June 1971 [11 June 1970] 19091/71 Heading C4P 2,5 - Diacylamino - 1,4 - benzoquinones are prepared by direct acylation of 2,5-diamino-1,4- benzoquinones with carboxylic acid halides in presence of a Friedel Crafts catalyst, e.g. aluminium chloride. The reaction preferably takes place in an inert organic solvent e.g. nitrobenzene or methylene chloride using at least 3 mols. catalyst and 2À4 to 3À0 mols. acylating agent per mol. of diaminobenzoquinone. Other catalysts and inert organic solvents are specified.
