1314897 Anti-redeposition agents in detergents CELANESE CORP 24 July 1970 [25 July 1969] 35980/70 Heading C5D A method for preventing wet-soil redeposition and improving stain release on laundered fabrics, especially polyester fabrics, comprises adding to the laundry bath prior to the start of the laundering cycle, 0À001 to 0À5% wt. of a hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose. A soap or detergent composition comprises 0À01 to 5% wt. of hydroxy propyl methyl cellulose in the form of a substantially homogeneous mixture. The detergent composition may also contain (A) a builder, e.g. sodium tripolyphosphate, tetrasodium pyrophosphate, Na 3 PO 4 , sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium silicate or sodium carbonate; and (B) an anionic or non-ionic surfactant.
