titleOfInvention | Detergent compositions and a method for the preparation thereof |
abstract | 1314658 Carboxylated polysaccharide ether builders for detergents AKZO NV 23 Feb 1972 [25 Feb 1971] 8426/72 Heading C5D A detergent composition comprises an organic water-soluble surfactant and a builder which is a carboxylated polysaccharide in which the hydrogen atoms present in the hydroxyl groups of the glucose units of the polysaccharide are entirely or partially substituted with radicals containing two or more neutralized or unneutralized carboxyl groups. The polysaccharide may be starch or cellulose. The substituent groups may be -CH(COOH) 2 , The polysaccharide ethers are produced by reacting the polysaccharide with a reactive derivative of the acid which may be malic, malonic, maleic, fumaric, succinic, glutaric, adipic or α-carboxyglytaric acid. The polysaccharide ethers may be mixed with carboxylated polysaccharide ethers containing only one carbonyl group or with sodium ethylene diamine tetra acetate, sodium nitrilotriacetate, sodium polyacrylate or polymaleate. The surfactant may be anionic (e.g. a soap or sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate) or non-ionic (e.g. tallow fatty alcohol ethoxylate (25Eo)). Other in. gredients include sodium carbonate and sodium sulphate. |
