abstract | 1313794 Producing polycarbonates in immiscible liquid system BAYER AG 20 April 1970 [22 April 1969] 18654/70 Heading B1F A process for continuously producing a polycarbonate comprises passing reactants and at least two immiscible liquid phases comprising Bisphenol A, sodium hydroxide and water, through a reaction tube which comprises a series of residence time sections of relatively large internal cross-section and a series of mixing sections of smaller internal crosssection, the mixing sections and the residence time sections being positioned alternately, and the mixing sections providing Reynolds numbers greater than 2000 for the liquid phases and reactants as they pass through the mixing sections. |
