titleOfInvention Derivatives of d-sorbitol and process for the preparation thereof
abstract 1311368 D-Sorbitol derivatives CHINDIN GYOGYSZER - ES VEGYESZETI TERMEKEK GYARA RT 8 Sept 1970 [12 Sept 1969] 42982/70 Heading C2C Novel 1,6-dihalo-1,6-didesoxy-3,4-O-isopropylidene - D - sorbitols and 1,6 - dihalo- 1,6 - didesoxy - D - sorbitols may be prepared by reacting 1,2-5,6-dianhydro-3,4-O-isopropylidene-D-sorbitol with an inorganic halide to yield a dihalo-1,6-didesoxy-3,4-O-isopropylidene-D-sorbitol and optionally hydrolysing the isopropylidene group. Pharmaceutical compositions of at least one of the novel D-sorbitols with the usual excipients show antitumour properties when administered orally or parenterally.
