titleOfInvention Method for encapsulation of hydrophobic materials
abstract 1310866 Encapsulating hydrophobic materials NIPPON CHEMICALS CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [21 Aug 1970] 24159/71 Heading B8C [Also in Division C3] Hydrophobic materials are encapsulated by dissolving a mixture of a urethane prepolymer and epichlorohydrin in a hydrophobic liquid, dispersing the resultant admixture in droplet form in an aqueous solution containing a dissolved polyamine and subjecting the resultant dispersion to an interfacial polymerization reaction at a temperature of 25‹ to 60‹ C. for from 20 minutes to 10 hours. Preferably the amount of epichlorohydrin is 5 to 30% by weight of the prepolymer, the amount of the resulting mixture is 10 to 50% by weight of the hydrophobic liquid and the polyamine is used in an amount exceeding the stoichiometric amount required for reacting with the urethane prepolymer and epichlorohydrin. The hydrophobic liquid may be, for example, castor oil, lemon oil, spindle oil, gasoline, benzene, toluene, cyclohexane, oleic acid, dibutylphthalate and carbon tetrachloride. An emulsifier may be contained in the aqueous solution containing a polyamine.
