abstract | 1309800 Stabilizing polymers KONINKLIJKE INDUSTRIEELE MAATSCHAPPIJ NOURY & VAN DER LANDE NV 7 July 1970 [28 Aug 1969] 9334/72 Divided out of 1309799 Heading C3P Polymers are light-stabilized by incorporating compounds of formula where R 1 is H, alkyl or acetyl; R 3 , R 4 , R 5 and R 6 are H, halogen, OH, alkyl or alkoxy containing up to 12 C atoms or aryl; n is 1 or 2 and when n is 1, R 2 is H, alkyl, acyl having up to 20 C atoms, an alkyl-, alkoxy-, cyano- or halogen-substituted aroyl or an unsubstituted aroyl, phenoxycarbonyl or substituted or unsubstituted benzene aulphonyl; and when n is 2, R 2 is sulphonyl, carbonyl, dioxaloyl or -CO.ZCO- where Z is phenylene or a saturated aliphatic group having up to 12 C atoms. Specified stabilizers are phenyl-N-acetyl, phenyl-N-tosyl, p - t - butylphenyl - N - acetyl, p - nonylphenyl- N - acetyl, p - chlorophenyl - N - acetyl, p - phenylphenyl - N - acetyl, m - hydroxyphenyl - N - acetyl, phenyl - N - nonanoyl, phenyl - N - stearoyl, m - hydroxyphenyl - N - nonanoyl, phenyl - N - benzoyl, m - octoxyphenyl - N - acetyl, phenyl - N - (4 - chlorobenzoyl), phenyl - N - (4 - cyanobenzoyl), phenyl - N - (2 - methoxybenzoyl), pheny' - N- (3 - isopropylbenzoyl), phenyl - N - (4 - t - butylbenzoyl), phenyl - N - methyl - N - acetyl, 2- chloro - 4 - phenylphenyl - N - acetyl, 2,4,5 - trichlorophenyl - N - acetyl, p - nonylphenyl - N. tosyl, phenyl - N,N - diacetyl, phenyl - N- phenoxycarbo, p - t - octylphenyl - N - acetyl, p - dodecylphenyl - N - acetyl, phenyl . Examples describe stabilizing (I) polyvinyl chloride compounded with dioctyl phthalate and cadmium/barium stabilizer, (II) polyethylene, (III) polystyrene and (IV) an unsaturated polyester resin. |
