1309799 N-acylated aminobenzoates KONINKLIJKE INDUSTRIEELE MAATSCHAPPIJ NOURY & VAN DER LANDE NV 7 July 1970 [28 Aug 1969] 32939/70 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I where R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or acetyl radical, R 3 -R 6 each represent a hydrogen or halogen atom, an alkyl C 1-12 , aryl or hydroxy radical and in addition R 4 and R 6 may represent an alkoxy C 1-12 radical, n is 1 or 2 and when n is 1 R 2 is an acyl C 1-20 , optionally substituted aroyl, phenoxycarbonyl or optionally substituted benzene sulphonyl group and when n is 2 R 2 is a sulphonyl, carbonyl, dioxaloyl group or a group of formula where Z is an alkylene C 1-12 or phenylene radical. They are prepared by reacting a compound of formula with a compound of formula where A is a halogen atom or hydroxy group in an aqueous medium or an organic solvent, isolating the resultant ester and converting it to the acid amide or sulphonamide desired. Compounds of Formula I where the amino and ester groups are ortho to each other may be prepared from isatoic anhydride or its N-alkyl derivatives by reaction with phenol, isolating the ester and converting it to the desired amide or sulphonamide. Substituted phenyl amino-benzoates are prepared by reaction between the appropriately substituted phenol and the amino-benzoic acid or its halide. Compounds I act as ultra-violet light stabilizers. |
