titleOfInvention Method for underground disposal of radioactive waste
abstract 1309281 Disposal of radio-active waste HALLIBURTON CO 26 May 1970 25278/70 Heading G6R Solid radio-active waste is injected into a mixture of dry cement and an aqueous liquid containing less than 5% by volume of liquid other than water, and the slurry formed is pumped into a well bore, so as to produce formation fractures into which the slurry is forced. The solid material is stated to prop open the fractures while the slurry is solidifying. The aqueous liquid constituent may be a low level radio-active waste and the solid material a high level waste. The slurry may also include a friction reducer and a cement setting retarding agent. After solidification has taken place, further layers of slurry may be pumped into the well adjacent the first layer. An annular seal of non-radio-active cement slurry is then introduced between the radio-active material and the well bore.
