abstract | 1308908 Eye wash pack WALLACE CAMERON & CO Ltd 17 March 1970 [1 April 1969] 16924/69 Headings A5B and ASR An eye wash pack comprises a flexible walled polyethylene bottle of about 35 ml capacity having a discharge nozzle closed by a threaded cap and a viscring band. The bottle contains a dose of a sterile eyewash that may be applied directly to the eye when the bottle is squeezed. The eye wash comprises an aqueous saline solution with a salt concentration of 0.2-0.95 % wt./vol. isotonic with human blood and lachrymal secretions. The acidity of the solution is maintained between pH 4.0-8.0 by a buffer of acetate, borate or phosphate. The solution may be:- Acetic acid 0.18% wt./vol. Sodium acetate 1.15% wt./vol. Sodium chloride 0.26% wt./vol. Water to 100%. Sterilisation may be by heat treatment or by α or # radiation. |
