titleOfInvention Sustained release haematinic tablets
abstract 1300426 Sustained release tablet BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 19 April 1971 [25 April 1970] 19963/70 Heading A5B A sustained release haematinic tablet comprises a haematinic agent in the interconnected pores of a matrix of sandarac or a copal resin. The haematinic agent may be ferrous sulphate, carbonate, succinate or fumarate. The resin may be Manila copal or lemon shellac. The tablet may be made by mixing the haematinic agent with a solution of the resin in alcohol, evaporating the solvent to produce granules, adding a lubricant, e.g. magnesium stearate, to the granules and tabletting them. The tablet may be coated with a material which dissolves or disintegrates in the gastrointestinal tract.
