abstract 1299687 Polysiloxane elastomers heatstabilized with cerium carbonate BAYER AG 19 April 1971 [1 April 1970] 25637/71 Heading C3T A vulcanizable polyorganosiloxane elastomer comprises 0À001-10 p.b.w. of cerium carbonate per 100 p.b.w. of polyorganosiloxane. Conventional linear polysiloxanes may be used, and conventional fillers, peroxide vulcanizing agents and other additives may be added. The cerium carbonate is preferably of particle size less than 10 microns and is added with the filler. In Example 1 a polydimethylsiloxane containing 0À175% MeViSiO units is mixed with pyrogenic silica and cerium carbonate; in Example 2 a polydimethylsiloxane containing 15% Ph 2 SiO units and 0À12% allyl methylsiloxane units is mixed with fume silica, a 50/50 mixture of hydrolysed Ph 2 SiCl 2 and polydimethylsiloxane, cerium carbonate, and dicumyl peroxide; in Example 3 the polysiloxane of Example 1 is mixed with pyrogenic silica, diphenylsilane diol and dicumyl peroxide.
