abstract | 1296080 Stilbene derivatives BAYER AG 22 Dec 1970 [30 Dec 1969] 60836/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division D1] Novel stilbene drivatives of the formula wherein R is an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl radical; n is 0, 1 or 2 and m is hydrogen or a monovalent cation, are prepared by reacting cyanuryl chloride or bromide with, in any desired sequence, (i) 4,41 - diaminostilbene - (2,21) - disulphonic acid or a salt thereof, (ii) a mercapto compound of the formula RSH or an alkali metal salt thereof, and (iii) an amine of the formula The process may be carried out in the presence of an acid-binding agent and/or wetting agent. The novel compounds may be used as optical brighteners. |
