abstract 1295605 Stabilizing PVC M & T CHEMICALS Inc 5 May 1971 [3 June 1970] 13231/71 Heading C3P [Also in Division C2] Halogen-containing polymers and copolymers (many specified) are stabilized by incorporating therein a compound of general formula where R is hydrocarbyl, R<SP>1</SP> is hydrocarbyl, hydroxyhydrocarbyl or a residue of a carboxylic acid ester and X is halogen other than fluorine and optionally a second stabilizer which is either a dialkyltin bis-(cyclohexyl or substituted cyclohexyl maleate) or of formula R<SP>11</SP> 2 Sn(SR<SP>111</SP>) 2 where R<SP>11</SP> is hydrocarbyl and R<SP>111</SP> is hydrocarbyl or a carboxylic acid ester residue. In an example, rigid vinyl chloride polymer is stabilized with bis - (monobutylmonochloro-S- hydroxyethyl mercaptotin) oxide and dibutyltin bis-(iso-octyl mercaptoacetate).
