abstract | 1295403 Thermosetting polycondensates RHONE-POULENC SA 19 April 1971 [26 Jan 1970] 20306/71 Addition to 1190898 Heading C3R A thermosetting polycondensate is prepared by heating (a) a prepolycondensate of azophthalic dianydride and a mono- or poly-hydric phenol in a finely divided state with (b) a diprimary aromatic or heterocyclic aromatic diamine in a diluent consisting of at least one orthophosphate of formula where Ar<SP>1</SP> and Ar<SP>2</SP> are phenyl, tolyl or xylyl and R<SP>2</SP> is as defined for Ar<SP>1</SP> and Ar<SP>2</SP> or may be alkyl or chloroalkyl, at 200‹ to 320‹C. The precondensate may be prepared as described in parent Specification 1,190,898. In an example, a precondensate is obtained from azophthalic dianhydride and phenol with bis- (4-aminophenyl) methane in tricresyl phosphate. Other phenolic compounds, diamines and orthophosphates are mentioned. Uses-Moulding powders. |
