titleOfInvention Process for producing yeast cells by cultivation
abstract 1294810 Yeast KANEGAFUCHI KAGAKU KOGYO K K 24 Aug 1971 [9 Oct 1970] 39533/71 Heading C6F A process for the production of yeast cells involves cultivating a mixed culture of biotinrequiring, hydrocarbon-assimilating yeast and a Vitamin B 1 -requiring yeast in an aqueous culture medium under aerobic conditions, using a carbon source comprising petroleum hydrocarbons. The Vitamin B 1 -requiring yeast need not necessarily be hydrocarbon assimilating. Biotin-requiring, hydrocarbon assimilating yeasts: specified species of the genera Candida, Debaryomyces, Mycotorula, Pichia and Torulopsis. Vitamin B 1 -requiring yeasts: specified species of the genera Candida, Rhodotorula, Torulopsis and Trichosporon. The Vitamin B 1 -requiring yeast should be present in the culture broth in an amount of at least 1% of the total number of cells, though much greater proportions than this are used according to the Examples.
