titleOfInvention | A process for the manufacture of pyridine derivatives |
abstract | 1293843 Pyridoxine F HOFFMANN LA ROCHE & CO AG 19 March 1970 [25 March 1969] 13259/70 Heading C2V Pyridoxine and acid addition salts thereof are obtained by heating a mixture of (a) an oxazolylacetic acid of formula where R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen or a carboxyl group and R<SP>2</SP> is an alkyl group, with (b) a dioxepine compound of formula where R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen, alkyl or phenyl, and (c) a compound of formula where A and B are in trans-configuration and each represents an electron-withdrawing group, and converting the adduct thereby obtained into pyridoxine or an acid addition salt thereof by rearrangement and acidic hydrolysis. In examples : (a) is 5-ethoxy-4-oxazolylacetic acid. and' 2 - carboxy - 5 - ethoxy - 4 - oxazolylacetic acid, (b) is 2 - isopropyl - 4,7 - dihydro - 1,3- dioxepine and (c) is dimethyl fumarate, diethyl fumarate, di-n-butyl fumarate and fumarodinitrile. Other starting materials are mentioned. |
