titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF beta-ALKENYL-alpha,gamma-DICARBONYL COMPOUNDS |
abstract | 1293549 #-Alkenyl-α,γ-dicarbonyl compounds TORAY INDUSTRIES Inc 5 Nov 1969 [5 Nov 1968] 54346/69 Heading C2C #-Alkenyl-α,γ-dicarbonyl compounds (i.e. compounds which contain the group are prepared by reacting a conjugated diene I where R 1 and R 4 are each hydrogen, alkyl C 1-6 or alkenyl C 2-6 , R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen or alkyl C 1-4 , with an α,γ-dicarbonyl compound II : where R 5 is hydrogen, alkyl C 1-20 , optionally substituted aryl C 6-14 , R 6 and R 7 are each hydrogen, hydroxy, hydrocarbon C 1-20 , hydrocarbonoxy C 1-20 or R 5 and R 6 may together form part of a C 3-18 ring or R 6 and R, may together form part of a C 5-18 ring with the proviso that R 6 and R 7 are not simultaneously hydrogen or hydroxy, in the presence of a palladium complex in which a bidentate ligand is co-ordinated with the palladium atom, e.g. a complex of Formula III: where A is a bidentate ligand, B is a ligand capable of being replaced by a conjugated diene or a radical capable of forming a Pd-C, Pd-O or Pd-N linkage, m is 1 or 2 and n is 0, 1 or 2. Examples of compound I are 1,3-butadiene, isoprene, 2,3-dimethyl butadiene, 2,4-hexadiene and 1,3-pentadiene. Examples of compound II are acetylacetone, methyl acetoacetate, ethyl acetoacetate, methyl malonate, ethyl malonate, α - formylcyclohexanone, α - formylcyclododecanone, 2 - ethoxycarbonylcyclopentanone. In compound III A is preferably a diphosphine, diarsine, diamine or mercaptophosphine and B is a dienophile, e.g. maleic anhydride and benzoquinone. |
