titleOfInvention Method for the preparation of printing plates
abstract 1292600 Planographic printing plates AGFA-GEVAERT 19 Dec 1969 [20 Dec 1968] 60838/68 Heading G2M A hydrophilic colloid layer bearing a silver image produced by a single-sheet silver complex diffusion transfer process is treated with an acidic aqueous composition containing (a) a water soluble Fe (III) salt, preferably ferric chloride, which at least superficially oxidises the image and (b) an organic compound which renders the oxidized silver hydrophobic; the colloid layer being hardened before during or after the treatment. The composition may also include other oxidizing agents e.g. Pb, Hg, Cu, Cr ions, a water soluble permanganate or iodic acid.
