abstract 1291520 Biocidal paints TENNECO CHEMICALS Inc 9 Oct 1970 [14 Oct 1969] 48098/70 Heading C3P [Also in Divisions C2 and C4] An organotin compound of the formula in which R is phenyl or a C 4-12 alkyl group, one R<SP>1</SP> is a C 8-22 alkenyl group, the other R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen and R<SP>11</SP> is a C 1-16 alkyl group, having biocidal activity is incorporated in an amount of 2% by weight in the following paint compositions: (a) a polyvinyl acetate emulsion comprising aqueous solution of polyvinyl acetate, aqueous solution of methyl cellulose, water, titanium dioxide, calcium metasilicate, potassium pyrophosphate, and diethyl ether of diethylene glycol, and (b) an acrylic paint comprising an acrylic acid resin, water, monoethyl ether of ethylene glycol, titanium dioxide, and aluminium and magnesium silicates. In a test, paper is coated with the paint compositions.
