titleOfInvention Process for the production of simulated suede
abstract 1287650 Laminates BALAMUNDI NEDERLAND NV 21 Oct 1970 [21 Oct 1969] 49900/70 Heading B5N A process for the production of a simulated suede material comprises forming a porous polyurethane layer on a smooth surface of a first support, said first support being removable from said layer, thereby producing a porous polyurethane layer having a first surface formed on said smooth surface of said first support, adhering a second surface of said layer to a second support and abrading the said first surface of said layer to impart thereto a suede like appearance. The first support which may be removed before or after application of the second support may be a foil of polyethylene, polyester or metal or a glass or metal plate. The second support which is suitably a fibrous web may be adhered to the porous polyurethane layer either directly or with the aid of a glue e.g. a polyurethane. The porous polyurethane layer is preferably made by spreading a solution of a linear polyamide on the first support, immersing the layer in water to coagulate the polyurethane and drying.
