abstract 1286949 Polymer-containing compositions MERCK PATENT GmbH 26 Nov 1970 [27 Dec 1969 10 Oct 1970] 56340/70 Heading A5B A composition having bile-acid-fixing and triglyceride-fixing activity and suitable for oral administration comprises (a) a polymer of formula: wherein Y is H or CH 2 Z, Z is ionisable amino, a, b and c indicate the relative weight proportions of the structural units, a being 1-20%, b 60-90%, and c 5-20%, and n is the degree of polymerization, the polymer having a macroporous structure, a swelling volume of less than 5 ml/g. in water and a moisture content of less than 50% by weight after equilibration with air of 100% relative humidity at 25‹C and (b) a physiologically compatible carrier. The polymer may be an anion exchange resin in its chloride form.
