abstract | 1284505 Condensation products of glyoxylic acid esters with aminothiols LABORATOIRES HOUDE 8 Dec 1970 [19 Dec 1969] 58175/70 Heading C2C Novel compounds of the FormulĀµ (A) and (B) wherein R is C 1-18 alkyl, R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, carboxylic acid or ester with a C 1-18 alcohol, excluding compound (B) in which R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen and R is methyl or ethyl, and acid addition salts thereof may be prepared by reacting a compound (C): with an alkyl glyoxylate OCH.COOR or with a hemiacetal ester of the Formula (E): in the presence of an alcohol ROH. Compound (B) when R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen may be prepared by heating the corresponding compound (A) with an alcohol ROH. Pharmaceutical compositions of the compounds (A) or (B) with the usual excipients may be used for prevention and treatment of damage due to ionizing radiation and may be administered orally, parenterally, rectally or topically. |
