1283102 Hydroxysulphonates COLGATEPALMOLIVE CO 12 June 1969 [13 June 1968] 57533/71 Divided out of 1283101 Heading C2C Novel compounds of formula and salts thereof, where n is 0, 1 or 2, R A is monovalent hydrocarbyl, R B is H or monovalent aliphatic hydrocarbyl, and -OROH is the radical of a dihydric alcohol HOROH, where R is an organic linking group, the compounds having up to 40 C atoms, are prepared by reacting a sultone with HOROH or a monoalcoholate thereof, and forming salts as desired. The sultone may be contained in the mixture obtained by reacting an olefine with SO 3 in which case the product contains alkene- and hydroxyalkane-sulphonates as well as compounds I.
