titleOfInvention Electromagnetically detectable surgical dressings
abstract 1,274,061. Electromagnetically detectable dressings. JOHNSON & JOHNSON. 4 June, 1969 [4 June, 1968], No. 28296/69. Heading A5R. A surgical swab or dressing comprises an absorbent body 11 and an electromagnetic responsive element 12 and comprising a plurality of superimposed layers of thin, flexible, foraminous metallic sheet secured to the body, the metal having a resistivity no greater than 3.314 x 10<SP>-6</SP> ohm-centimeters, and a magnetic permeability no greater than 1.1 x 10<SP>-5</SP>. As described the layer of metal is stuck with adhesive 13 to any suitable absorbent material, and then folded as indicated in Fig. 1. The metal may be Aluminium, Silver or. Gold and may be a perforated sheet or a woven grid (Fig. 5 not shown).
