abstract | 1,272,923. Nail varnish remover. L'OREAL. 4 Feb., 1970 [4 Feb., 1969], No. 5287/70. Heading C5D. A nail varnish removing composition in the form of a liquid, a paste or a solid comprises an appropriate vehicle and pressure-rupturable microcapsules containing at least one solvent which is ethyl, isopropyl, butyl or amyl acetate, butyl propionate, ethyl lactate, butyl stearate or acetone. Optional ingredients which may be mixed with the solvents are castor oil, olive oil, γ-valerolactone, monoethylether of ethylene glycol and the monoethyl ether of diethylene glycol. The encapsulating material may be a styrene/maleic acid copolymer, polyethylene, polethylene/ethyl cellulose mixture, polyurethane, a polyester, gelatine, natural waxes, polyamide, acrylic resin, urea-formaldehyde resin, acetal homo- or copolymer, casein, an epoxy resin, polypropylene or cellulose acetophthalate. The microcapsules may be double walled or may be mixtures of microcapsules having different wall thickness and/or of different encapsulating materials. The diameter of the microcapsules may be 50 to 250 microns. A cosmetic pencil (Example 3) is prepared by melting beeswax, ozokerite, carnauba wax, paraffin and lanolin, dispersing micro-capsules containing a solvent mixture in the molten mix and moulding to form a "lead" by means of a press. The compositions are applied to the nail varnish and the microcapsules are ruptured with the aid of a rag, a spatula, a pad of absorbent cotton or by rubbing. |
