The novel compounds 18α- and 18#-olean-12- ene-3#,11α,30-triol are prepared from 18α or 18#-glycyrrhetinic acid or an alkyl ester thereof by reduction with sodium bis-(2-methoxyethoxy) aluminium hydride, and separation of the desired 11α-ol from the 11#-epimer also formed. Dehydration of the novel compounds yields oleana-11,13(18)-diene-3#,30-diol. |
