[Also in Divisions C4 and G2-G3] 3,3<SP>1</SP> - Sulpholanyl - 2 - thiothiazolid - 4 - one is prepared by mixing CS 2 , aqueous 3-sulpholanylamine (A) and aqueous NaOH, adding aqueous ClCH 2 CO 2 H, neutralizing with Na 2 CO 3 , and adding H 2 SO 4 . 3,3<SP>1 </SP>- Sulpholanyl - 2 - thio - oxazolid - 4 - one is prepared by reacting S-carbamylmethyl-O- carboxymethyl dithiocarbonate and (A) in the presence of H 2 SO 4 . Benzoin, (A) and P 2 O 5 are heated and the product treated with HCl to form sulpholan-3<SP>1</SP>- yl-(2-one-1,2-diphenylethyl)amino.HCl which is refluxed with acetyl chloride and acetic anhydride to form 4,5-diphenyl-2-methyl-3,3<SP>1</SP>- sulpholanyloxazolium chloride. |
