abstract 1,268,727. Carboxylic acid amide derivatives. FMC CORP. 25 June, 1970 [9 July, 1969; 21 Jan., 1970], No. 30922/70. Heading C2C. Novel carboxylic acid amides have the formulae wherein R is C 1-5 alkyl. Compounds (I) may be prepared by epoxidizing the 10, 11 double bond of an N-ethyl-3,7,11-trialkyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienamide with a peroxy compound such as an organic peracid preferably in a halohydrocarbon as solvent. The starting material may be prepared either by condensing the appropriate ketone with a dialkyl N-ethyl phosphonoacetamide in the presence of sodium hydride in an inert organic solvent e.g. a glycol ether, or by reacting the appropriate acid chloride with excess ethylamine. The compounds (II) may be prepared by reacting 3,7,11-trialkyl-7,11-dichloro-2-dodecenoyl halide with ethylamine in the presence of an inert organic solvent. The novel compounds possess pesticidal activity.
