[Also in Divisions C4 and C5] A cleanser composition comprises as a cleaning and polishing component a mixture of from 0.1 to 80% by wt. of zirconium dioxide ZrO 2 having a particle size of up to 50 microns, and from 99.9 to 20% by wt. of zirconium silicate ZrSiO 4 having a particle size of up to 10 microns, the mixture being present in the cleanser composition at a level of from 20-90% by wt. of the composition. Preferably at least 90% of the ZrSiO 4 has a particle size of up to 5 microns and substantially all of the ZrO 2 particles are less than 1 micron, the cleaning and polishing component comprising 0.1 to 2.0% ZrO 2 and balance ZrSiO 4 . Alternatively, at least 90% of the ZrSi O 4 has a particle size of up to 5 microns and at least 75% of the ZrO2 has a particle size of between 10-20 microns, the cleaning and polishing component comprising 20-80% ZrO 2 and 80-20% ZrSiO 4 . A denture composition contains the above component and conventional ingredients of a dentifrice. It may be in paste or powder form.
