abstract 1,266,314. Stabilized phenolic resins. JURID WERKE G.m.b.H. 20 May, 1970 [29 May, 1969 (2)], No. 24471/70. Heading C3R. [Also in Division C4] A phenolic resin is stabilized by addition of a compound of formula where R is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical. In examples, the stabilizer, a trimer of diphenylmethane-4,4<SP>1</SP>-diisocyanate, is compounded with (1) a novolak/hexamine mixture, silicon carbide, Ba 2 SO 4 and furfural to produce an abrasive material, (2) a phenolic resin adhesive and (3-5) a novolak, a cresolresole and various fillers and friction materials to produce a friction composition. Fillers and friction materials specified are ZnO, Al 2 (SiO 3 ) 3 , MgSiO 3 , CaCO 3 , Ba 2 SO 4 , asbestos, graphite, MoS 2 , acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymer, KNO 3 , Ca(OH) 2 and cast iron.
