The invention comprises disperse monoazo dyes, free from SO 3 H groups, of formula wherein R is H, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulphonyl, or aryl which may be substituted, X is H, Cl, alkyl, alkoxy or aryloxy, Y is H, alkyl, alkoxy or aryloxy and Z is alkyl or 2-chloroethyl. The dyes are prepared by coupling diazotized 5 - amino - 1,2,4 - thiadiazoles with N-2-chloroethyl-anilines and are used to colour synthetic fibres in particular polyester fibres in orange and red shades. |
