abstract 1,264,899. Triaza-adamantane derivatives. COMMERCIAL SOLVENTS CORP. 10 Nov., 1969 [12 Nov., 1968], No. 64808/69. Heading C2C. The invention comprises adamantane derivatives of the formula in which X is nitro, hydroxylamino or amino. They may be made by reacting tris-(hydroxymethyl) nitromethane with ammonia in a mole ratio of 1 to 4 in the presence of 0 to 3 moles of formaldehyde per mole of tris-(hydroxymethyl)- nitromethane to produce 7-nitro-1,3,5-triazaadamantane and optionally (a) effecting the partial reduction of the nitro compound to the hydroxylamino compound using a palladium or charcoal catalyst or (b) effecting the complete reduction of the nitro compound using a Raney nickel catalyst to give the amino compound. The adamantane derivatives may be used as fungicides and may be used in admixture with conventional liquid or solid extending agents, adjuvants, and surface-active agents. If desired, the fungicidal composition may contain other pesticides.
