An inflatable bladder 5 for a tyre building machine comprises a radially outer layer 10 of a polyurethane material and a radially inner layer 9 comprising a compounded elastomer having a shore A hardness of between 55 and 85 which may be natural rubber high cis-polybutadiene, high cis-polyisoprene, acrylonitrilebutadiene and butadiene styrene and includes bend areas 6 to enable the bladder to be attached to the tyre building machine. The inner layer may be of elastomer coated parallel cord fabric and the polyurethane elastomer may have a shore A hardness of between 45 and 65. The bladder may be the centre sleeve or a turn-up bladder of a tyre-building machine.
