abstract | 1,258,557. Trihalogenomethyl benzene sulphonic acid halides. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 29 Oct., 1970 [29 Oct., 1969], No. 51387/70. Heading C2C. The invention comprises a process for the production of the compounds of formula in which Hal, X, Y and Z, which may be the same or different, each represents a halogen atom ; n-is 0, 1, 2, or 3; m is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, wherein a trihalogenomethyl benzene of formula is reacted with a halogensulphonic acid of the formula HalSO 3 H at a temperature of from -50 to + 80 C., in the presence of at least the stoichiometrically necessary quantity of SO 3 . The invention also comprises compounds of Formula III wherein X is a fluorine atom; Y and Z represent chlorine atoms; Hal represents a fluorine atom; m is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, and m is 0, 1, 2 or 3 ; or, Hal represents a chlorine atom and either m represents 2, 3 or 4 and n represents 0, 1, 2 or 3, or, m represents 0 and n represents 1 or 2. |
