abstract | 1,257,955. Resolution of DL-lysine. STAMICARBON N.V. 29 May, 1969 [31 May, 1968], No. 27358/69. Heading C2C. A mixture of D(-) and L(+) lysine, particularly the racemate, is treated with optically impure α-phenoxypropionic acid, having an optical purity of more than 70%, to form a mixture of salts of the different optical lysine antipodes from which a solid fraction consisting mainly of DL- or LD-salt, the lysine component in the fraction having a greater optical purity than the said impure α-phenoxypropionic acid, is then separated by means of a solvent. The preferred technique is selective countercurrent extraction, using methanol as solvent at about 35‹ C. The desired lysine and the α- phenoxypropionic acid are recovered by acidification and extraction with toluene. |
