A sealing ring for securing a colostomy pouch to the body comprises an inner ring 10 of gelatinous material, e.g. a mixture containing karaya powder and glycerol, located concentrically within an outer ring 12 of cellular synthetic plastics material, e.g. foamed polyurethane. The rings 10, 12 are secured to a backing piece 13 having adhesive on both faces, the outer faces of the rings and backing piece having detachable cover papers during storage. In use the backing piece 13 is adhered to one face of a flange 17 of a drainage pouch 'holder and the concentric rings 10, 12 placed against the body around the stoma, a belt 20 receiving the holder in position. A surgical drainage pouch 21 has an opening in one wall, the opening being surrounded by an adhesive coated attachment ring 25. The opening in the bag is placed over a collar 22 extending from the holder, the attachment ring 25 securing the bag to the flange 17.
