Mixtures containing at least one C-alkyl piperidine and an alkyl or cycloalkyl primary amine are prepared by hydrogenating an aliphatic N-alkyl or N-cycloalkyl γ-cyanoketimine to form a mixture of a C-alkyl piperidine and a primary amine having attached to the nitrogen atom thereof the alkyl or cycloalkyl attached to the nitrogen atom of the starting cyanoketimine. Examples are given of the preparation of mixtures of (a) 2-methyl piperidine and cyclohexylamine; (b) 2-methyl piperidine and isopropylamine; (c) 2-methyl piperidine and hexylamine; (d) 2, 3-dimethyl piperidine, 2-ethyl piperidine and cyclohexylamine; and (e) 2-methyl piperidine, 1,5-diaminohexane. |
