titleOfInvention | Dithiophosphates, their manufacture and use in pest control agents |
abstract | 1,255,946. Dithiophosphate esters. CIBAGEIGY A.G. 13 Dec., 1968 [13 Dec., 1967; 25 July, 1968], No. 59398/68. Heading C2P. The invention comprises dithiophosphates of the general formula wherein (i) R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, each represents an alkyl radical having up to 5 carbon atoms, an allyl radical, a 2-methoxy-ethyl radical or a 2-ethoxy-ethyl radical; R 3 represents a methylene radical or an ethylidene radical; and Am represents one of the following cyclic amines, which is attached to the carbonyl group via its nitrogen atom: 2 - methylpiperidine, 3 - methylpiperidine, 4- methylpiperidine, 2,6 - dimethylpiperidine, 3,4 - dibromopiperidine, 1,2,5,6 -.tetrahydropyridine, octahydroazocine; or wherein (ii) R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, each represents a butyl, allyl or 2-methoxyethyl radical; R 3 represents a methylene radical; and Am represents. a hexamethyleneimine radical which is attached to the carbonyl group via its nitrogen atom; or wherein (iii) R 1 and R 2 , which may be the same or different, each represents an ethyl or an n-propyl radical; R 3 represents an ethylidene radical; and Am represents a hexamethyleneimine radical attached to the carbonyl group via its nitrogen atom. They may be obtained either (a) by reacting an α-halogenocarboxylic acid amide Hal-R 3 -CO-Am with a salt of the formula (R 1 O)(R 2 0)P(S)SM wherein Hal is halogen, e.g. Cl, and M is an alkali metal, e.g. Na or K, or an ammonium radical, the reaction being carried out in a solvent, e.g. water or an aliphatic alcohol or ketone having up to 4 carbon atoms in the aliphatic chain; (b) by reacting an appropriate O,O - di - organodithio - phosphoryl acetic or α-propionic acid ester with the appropriate heterocyclic compound, suitable esters being, e.g. the phenyl, benzyl or ethyleneglycol ester of the said carboxylic acid; (c) by reacting a mixed anhydride of the said carboxylic acid, e.g. the anhydride with benzoic acid or with a carbonic acid semiester with the appropriate heterocyclic compound; or (d) by reacting a salt, e.g. an alkali metal salt, of said carboxylic acid with a carboxylic acid chloride of an appropriate heterocyclic compound at elevated temperature with elimination of CO 2 . The products have pesticidal, e.g. insecticidal, acaricidal, herbicidal and fungicidal properties and may be used in admixture with diluents, solvents, dispersants, emulsifiers, thickening agents, adhesives and/or fertilizers. They may be formulated as pastes, concentrates, granulates or wettable powders. |
