abstract | 1,253,611. Nitrogen containing unsaturated phosphinates; steroids; aldehydes. SHIONOGI & CO., Ltd. 7 March, 1969 [7 March, 1968; 19 March, 1968 (2); 30 March, 1968], No. 12310/69. Headings C2C, C2P and C2U. Novel compounds of the formula in which R<SP>1</SP> is a lower alkyl group, R<SP>2</SP> is a lower alkyl group, an aralkyl group of 7-8 carbon atoms, an aryl group of 6-7 carbon atoms or R<SP>11</SP>O where R<SP>11</SP> is a lower alkyl group, R<SP>3</SP> is an acyclic or cyclic alkyl group of 1-6 carbon atoms or an aryl group of 6-7 carbon atoms, R<SP>4</SP> is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, an aralkyl group of 7-8 carbon atoms, a lower alkoxy carbonyl group or a halogen atom may be obtained by reacting a compound of the formula with R<SP>3</SP>-NH 2 in an organic solvent at 0- 120 C. Typical compounds produced are diethylphosphonoacetaldehyde cyclohexylaminoenamine and 2-diethylphosphono-3-(N-cyclohexyl)aminoacrylic acid ethyl ester. The compounds may be reacted with a carbonyl compound in an aprotic solvent in the presence of a basic catalyst at a temperature of - 20 C. to 100 C. to yield and then hydrolysed in acid medium to yield Specified aldehydes are derived from cinnamic and substituted cinnamic acid, based on cyclohexylidene, and derived from steroids and steroidal compounds as set out in Examples 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 18, 25, 26, 27 and 28. |
